UMC Comment:
Since earlier last year the UMC has been complaining about the ongoing abuse of statutory powers by Strikeforce Raptor. Every week we hear another story of how members of Raptor ignore the law in their ongoing harassment of people who ride motorcycles, particularly members of patch clubs.
Last week a magistrate at Waverley Local Court threw out evidence in a Hearing due to members of Raptor not adhereing to the law.
Have they learn't anything from this? Apparently not.
On Friday night and again Sunday afternoon I received calls from members of two different clubs. The first member was approached by officers from Raptor demanding his name and address and his licence in licensed premises. There was no apparent reason for this. And the police had no legal power to do so.The second incident on Sunday concerned members being searched when again police from Raptor had no legal basis to do so.
This unlawful behaviour by members of Raptor has been going on for far too long. It is time it stopped, No other citizens would put up with this. Why on earth should motorcycle riders have to suffer this harassment. How do we explain to our children that they must follow the law but apparently police from Strikeforce Raptor obviously do not.
